An alternative to Sage 300 People and VIP Premier
IronBadge
Payroll and HR that refuses to guess at a tax rate.
IronBadge is payroll, HR and employee self-service for South African businesses, an alternative to Sage 300 People and VIP Premier. A pay run cannot skip a step, and a statutory rate nobody has verified is a rate it will not use.

- Written for
- South African payroll — PAYE, UIF, SDL and ETI

- Leave, performance, recruitment, training and compliance
An unverified rate is refused, not applied
Every statutory rate is dated and marked verified or not, and IronBadge will not calculate with one that has not been checked. A payslip missing a deduction is an obvious problem on payday; a payslip with the wrong one is found by SARS months later.
A pay run cannot skip a step
A run is calculated, then approved, then paid, then closed, and nothing can be approved that has not been calculated. An employee with no salary set is left out of the calculation rather than quietly paid nothing.
Returns are built only from closed runs
EMP201 and IRP5 figures are totalled from closed pay runs alone, so a number cannot change after somebody has reported it. These are the figures a return needs.
Employees see their own, and only once it is settled
Staff sign in for their payslips, leave balance and personal details. A payslip appears only once its pay run is approved, because figures that can still be corrected should not be read as final.
Leave balances are worked out, not stored
A balance is derived from approved requests every time it is shown, so there is no second number to drift from the first. A request larger than what remains is refused when it is made.
Each customer in its own database
Every customer gets a separate database with its own credentials, and a test proves that one customer's login cannot read another's.
